Every part has a purpose in this rich nighttime facial balm.

A story that begins with frankincense resin

Frankincense has a long history in fragrance and ritual. In ancient Egypt, aromatic preparations were made by warming botanicals in plant oils or animal fats—a way of carrying their scent into a rich base. That connection between botanicals, fats, and hands-on preparation inspires what we love about Renew.

Here in Wisconsin, we begin with suet sourced locally through Gehring's Meat Market and render it ourselves. For Renew, we gently warm frankincense resin in that tallow to create the infused base before bringing the formula together. The resin infusion is part of the preparation itself, giving this balm its own story and botanical character.

The oils that make the whole formula

• Frankincense resin-infused tallow: the rich foundation of Renew. Tallow helps soften skin and seal in moisture, while the resin infusion connects the balm to our love of traditional botanical preparation.

• Organic jojoba oil: brings smooth glide and skin-conditioning softness, helping the concentrated balm spread comfortably with just a small amount.

• Organic rosehip seed oil: an emollient chosen to soften dry-feeling skin and help it feel smooth and supple. It complements the richer tallow base with plant-oil conditioning.

• Organic pomegranate seed oil: another purposeful emollient in the blend, adding rich conditioning and a cushioned feel. Together with rosehip and jojoba, it helps make Renew's texture comfortable and nourishing.

• Organic blue tansy essential oil: contributes skin-conditioning care and a distinctive herbal aroma. Its naturally blue character comes from chamazulene, one of the constituents that makes this botanical special.

• Frankincense essential oil: is chosen for skin-conditioning care as well as warm, resinous aromatic depth. It complements the infused base as a separate part of the finished formula.

• Organic copaiba essential oil: is chosen to complement the blend's skin-conditioning comfort, with soft, balsamic notes that round out the scent. Alongside frankincense and blue tansy, it is part of Renew's complete botanical blend.

• Organic vitamin E: complements the skin-conditioning oils for a soft, cared-for feel.

• Locally sourced beeswax: gives Renew its balm structure and helps form a protective film that seals in moisture. It turns the oils and tallow into a rich finishing layer for your evening routine.

Why we made it for nighttime

The experience comes from how the ingredients work together: emollient oils to soften and condition, tallow for concentrated moisture, botanicals for aromatic character, and beeswax for a lasting balm feel.
